Every since Little Man was born, he’s never been on a “routine”.
He slept through the night fairly early and, at that point, I knew two things for sure, he’d go to sleep after nursing and wake up and want to nurse.
As he got older, there was DEFINITELY not a routine. He’s a crappy napper and so his naps HAVE to happen early or he’s up all night.
We’ve always rocked in the living room, in front of the TV and sometimes I think that was what kept him from going to sleep.
Now, we have a routine.
I love it.
He gets his nap in EARLY (think 9:30am to 11:00), goes to bed around 8:00-8:30 and wakes up around 6:30-7:00.
Instead of rocking in front of the TV and not having a “set” time for bed, we now…
Start turning off all of the lights and brushing teeth around 8:00-8:15,
Go into HIS ROOM, turn off the lights and sit in the glider and he lays STRAIGHT DOWN on me (omg, we’ve had some FIGHTS over laying down to rock) and knows it’s bedtime.
Wow, I can’t even express how much I love it.
I love to rock him, so I don’t mind having to do that part and he’s just not the kid who can be put in bed and he’ll put himself to sleep, but having to fight him and never knowing what time was “bedtime” was HORRIBLE.
What are your bedtime routines like?
