I can’t help but show off my designs on my personal blog every once in a while…so here’s that post!

I have been working more locally lately and it’s been great, I love having a local presence as a website designer! This first design is for a local sheep and donkey farm called Oakwood Farms, check them out!

This next blog design is for a VERY creative blog called Creative Kid Snacks! Is that not just adorable? Not my design (although, I am partial and I do think it’s adorable) but the snacks…man, I wish I could do that!

Newest WordPress Design

You all know I am a blog designer, right?

Well…if you don’t, I am!

And, ya know what…

You guys, I LOVE working on local projects, I mean, LOVE…

What I love even more is working on blogs for good friends, particularly since I think I am the only ”serious” blogger in the area thus far…not anymore, my good friend Candace has joined the scene and she’s AWESOME. She crochets, crafts, cooks, bakes, interior designs and does all of that with two boys under 3!

Here’s a peak at her new blog, please go check her out (click on the image below), she really is as awesome as I’m making her sound :) .

These are free for NOW, they will eventually go into my shoppe on this site when I have it ready, so I can’t guarantee how long they’ll be free for, so download ASAP!

Current Font Obsessions

fonts1

As a designer, I find it hard to find fonts I love, yet I find it hard to not love 400 fonts at once, lol. Anything “different” is always a winner in my book. Once a ton of sites start using the same font, I can recognize it in a second and officially start hating it.

I wanted to share with you guys a “few” of the fonts I’m loving these days. You’ll notice that the “little days” font is the one used on this site and the “ostrich” font one I refer to as my “trusty rusty”, it’s one of my favorite fonts and I find myself falling back on it quite often.

To download the fonts, see the links below, I hope you enjoy!

  1. Little Days
  2. Ostrich Sans
  3. Prophecy Script
  4. Sail
  5. Sweetly Broken
  6. Sverige Script
  7. Noteworthy *this one isn’t free*
  8. Dawning of a New Day
  9. CoventryGarden
  10. Calamity Jane
  11. Joy Like Sunshine Through My Window Pane (Seriously, whoever named that one need to be smacked, lol).

Oops, I did it again

Oh Britney Spears before she was crazy, hmm.

Anywho.

If you’re seeing this you’re probably thinking “what in the heck is she doing now?”, or if you’re Aimee “what are you up to, didn’t you just change things around?” . Well. Yeah.

I’m not nuts, I swear.

You probably remember when I quit my personal blog, only to come back again, only to change the name back to the original name a few months later? Well, give a girl a break, aren’t we allowed to be indecisive? I decided during that journey that I didn’t fit into just one mold of type of blogger. I like to blog about whatever I want, not just my son, not just design, not just crafts, everything.

So yeah, that’s not changing.

What is changing is the fact that I was neglecting my business blog (I’m still keeping my site, just my blog is being redirected over here now) and there were times where I felt like I wanted to post things both places, but that, honestly, would have been a waste of time. So this should solve that problem.

I’m me. Hence the blog name. I have wanted to do this for a while but a few other bloggers did it right around the time I was thinking of it and I didn’t want to look like a copy cat.

So, welcome to JessicaStansberry.com , I promise I am not changing it again…I mean, I don’t think I can, haha, at this point all of my URLs are so jumbled up that I just don’t know what to do, haha!

Enjoy!

Would you ask an artist not to sign their painting?

Back when I was pregnant with Little Man, probably around April/May 2010 time frame I was doing everything I could to jumpstart my design business so I could stay at home. I have been designing various things since I was in college including invitations, flyers, websites, etc but never actually took the time or effort since I was working full-time to launch and brand myself, as a business or even outside of our local area.

I contacted a semi-local event planner (she’s actually about an 1.5 hours away, but that’s local around here, lol) and explained my services and asked if she could pass my name along to her clients for invitations, save-the-dates, etc. She immediately jumped on the opportunity and we did a “trial agreement” where I was going to design her best friend’s baby shower invitation.

She had a very specific idea for her project. I portrayed it exactly.

She needed her invitations sent directly to her. Not something I normally did, but since she was pretty far away, I did it. (This is exactly why I design and don’t print now).

Everything was perfect.

I was waddling around Walmart one day on my lunch break and she called and JUMPED ALL OVER ME telling me that my logo should not have been on the back of the invitations, etc. Let me just say that my logo was SUPER tiny in the bottom left corner of the blank back of the invitation and was something I did on ALL of the invitations I had ever designed and printed for clients. I never placed anything on the back of wedding invitations or RSVPs or anything like that but on baby shower invitations? Heck yeah, I put my logo.

Does Hallmark put their logo on the back of their cards?

Duh!

So, needless-to-say, since I was 6-7 months pregnant and totally didn’t deserve to be jumped on,

I jumped back. 200%.

I reprinted the stupid invitations, NO LOGO, free of charge and told her to never call me again for any design work.

And she hasn’t.

Ridiculous.

I mean, really. Any other designer I’ve ever talked with has said “What? I ALWAYS put my logo on the back of casual projects”. Right. Me too.

So now, when I design for print media (which is honestly not that often), I design ONLY, clients can print wherever they choose and that way it’s in my public portfolio and they can have something on the back or not. Their choice.

Crazy sauce.

I don’t know why I was thinking about this, I mean it’s like 2 years later but I just HAD to vent a little about it.

What’s irking you today?

Blog Schedules :: Freebies

I released these while I was blogging over at Creativity Gone South and in a different color pallet, but since I’m over here now and have this BEAUTIFUL color pallet, I decided to change these a bit for ya!

There is a Blog Post Schedule for planning your weeks posts out and then a Blog Linky Party Schedule where you can write down what link parties you have for which days. Awesome, right? I plan to put both of these in my planner that I’m designing and you guys get them for free :) .

In case you missed it, I released May-December month-view Calendar templates on Saturday, head over and download them!

I have quite a few more printables I’m going to send your way before I’m done with this planner and I’m so excited about it.

I had originally thought I’d print it at home and such, but now, I think I’ll be using a printing service like Mimeo to print and bind it for me and then I’ll add things like pockets and tabs once I have it in hand, I’ll be sure to share the finished product with you as soon as I get it! My plan is to release all of these files for free until the end of the year and then probably (you know, I have a million things going on) start selling them completely assembled at the first of 2013. Hopefully anyway, but do.not.mark.my.words.

Click on the image below to download both the schedule and link party schedule!

Oh, and, as always…PIN away!

Calendar Downloads

Way back a long time ago, I mentioned I was going to make my own planner because I have a hard time finding one that works perfect for me, do you remember that?

No? Well, I’ve switched blogs 3 times since then, I mean, I just don’t know how you’ve missed it, LOL!

Anyway, I have been SO VERY BUSY with work and life that I just haven’t gotten around to finishing the design BUT…

I got around to making the calendar pages for May 2012-December 2012 today and, since I’m such a giver, I want you guys to have them!

Click on the image below to download them and then print at your will. They’re designed in left and right-side templates so that each “side” takes up an entire piece of paper (I like my month-view-pages LARGE).

Hope you enjoy…

Oh…and feel free to PIN!
