The last post here at Freckles & Dirt.
I really had a heart-felt and hard look at what I was feeling and I feel like this just isn’t my thing.
I started Freckles & Dirt to keep records for Casen and that’s just what I’m going to keep doing but as soon as I know everyone’s had time to read this post I’m going to shut it down to a password-only blog.
I do plan on moving any of my tutorials or business posts over to my business blog so that you all (and anyone else) can access them.
When I started F&D I assumed I’d be one of the awesome big bloggers who made all kinds of money on advertisers and such. Yeah, right. I still rarely get more than 30 hits per day on my site and it’s a little discouraging PLUS that’s not really my dream anymore. I am doing my dream, I am designing all sorts of things and working from home and loving it. I don’t want to be a Mommy Blogger, I want to be a business blogger, a design blogger, a designer in general.
I truly LOVE the experience I’ve had from blogging because I’ve met some pretty awesome people and I do still VERY MUCH SO plan to be involved in the blogging world, I mean, hello, I design them!
I will be blogging over at Southtown Creative (in case you don’t know, that’s my business name) and will expand to writing tutorials and business stuff and even the OCCASIONAL personal post (these will probably not be often, if at all). I plan to get back into the digital scrapbooking in my “free time” (Ok, I really don’t have any of that but maybe I’ll make some) and probably blog about all of that jazz and then I’ll also blog about design inspiration and projects I’m working on.
I feel like this is the way I need to go. Having this blog AND my business and it’s blog have just been too much and I’m not even caring about this blog anymore so I’m not going to just keep writing “oops, sorry, haven’t written in a few days” posts, I want them to have substance and be purposeful.
I love my job and I want to focus as much energy as I can onto that and growing it and supporting other small businesses (I am planning to start a Small Business Spotlight over at Southtown Creative) so that’s where I’m going to be putting my time and such.
Don’t worry, just remove Freckles & Dirt from your reader/bookmark/whatever and add Southtown Creative, it’ll just be a different type of blogging I do but the same ol’ me! I feel like the less time I’m spending editing my photos for the web and adding my watermark and writing posts, I’ll have that much time to scrapbook and keep up with Case and then blog about my scrapbooking so this isn’t the last you’ll see of my Little Man’s smiling face either.
I truly value every one of my readers and I hope you’ll follow me over to the business end but, if you don’t because you’re not interested in all that stuff, I get it.
So, to sign off I’ll say…
This is the last of this chapter of my blogging but not the last of me. You’ll see me around hanging in the footer and ad space of your favorite blogs that I’ll be designing, you’ll see me over at Southtown Creative and even doing guest posts and such with some of my favorite bloggers still, just with a different focus.
So, thank you all for the “mommy blogger” experience and I am so glad to have met you all, now don’t go crazy and get mad at me and not follow me over to the business blog, that’d just be nuts…come on!

Just found your blog, sorry to hear you are shutting it down! But I do understand, I have a craft/lifestyle blog and a teaching blog, and it gets seriously time consuming…one or the other is always going without new posts. Will definitely follow you over at your other blog though!
I’m sad to see you go, though I also understand.
